HOW TO GET STARTED AS A VOICE ACTOR

STEP 1. Email us a 1 minute commercial demo in a MP3 file. Include 7-8 second samples of a variety of different samples of your voice doing commercials from magazines, radio, or web. Slate your name (first and last) and Stars Talent Studio (agency name). Also End Slate saying, “Again thank you, first name/last name, Stars Talent Studio. *Note:  Unlike auditioning for TV/Film while doing your voice over demo, you don’t wait 3 seconds in between your name and agency.

STEP 2. If you are experienced; create up to 9 more “1 minute demos”. Review the categories listed below.  Showcase only your strong points! If you don’t do narration well, don’t include it in your demo.  You need 7 different samples (each 8 seconds long) per demo. Keep your demo only 1 minute long.

STEP 3. Make sure before emailing us that you SAVE EACH V.O. DEMO in the following format (MP3) and email them to info@starstalentstudio.com for review. Save in this format:  Jane_Doe Stars Commercial. (Replace commercial with whatever category selected)

·         Jingles (45-60 seconds)
·         Foreign Languages or accents

*NOTE:  Other categories are acceptable like children’s and teen voices, animation, infomercials, telephones voice services, announcer style voices, dialects, foreign languages, impersonators, etc.!

STEP 4.  Call Stars if you want options for training or recording a professional demo. Here are a few options:

             Do it yourself…by purchasing a Portable USB Microphone called “Go Mic by Samson”      that connects to your computer and records automatically.  This can be purchased at Best Buy for $60. You can do your own recordings and have a mini studio for your voice-over demo.

                                       Mac Computer program called Garage Band or PC program called Audacity which is free.

STEP 5.  Drop off your voice demo personally to the following locations:
Metcom Studios, OC Tanner, Xango, USANA, Tahiti Noni, Nuskin, New Ways, Love Communiation, Richter 7, and Thomas Arts (Get in their voice bank for Morgan Jewelry, Gus Paulos, Ken Garff).

STEP 6.  Email us the form below to amber@starstalentstudio.com and save it under your first and last name_vo description.
Name: (State your full professional name)
Experience: (Copy from resume, list experience in broadcasting, theatre, etc.)
Dialects: (i.e. Southern, Standard British, Cockney, Brooklyn, etc.)
Description of your voice: (Low, Medium High, Male or Female, Deep, Thin, Nasal, Raspy, Youthful, etc.)
Voice Age Range:  (list age range you can speak in comfortably: old to young)

List if you have a home studio & list equipment: (This doesn’t have to mean a fancy booth; they want to know if you have a quality microphone and software to put together your own voice demos.)
